The plain-English version of how buying from us works.
Who you're buying from
Releaf Altadena is a project of Cypress Avenue Design LLC, DBA Releaf Altadena, a California limited liability company based in Pasadena. We are a small business running a charitable initiative — we are not a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and purchases and donations made through this site are not tax-deductible.
The charitable model
For each product we publish our direct cost (materials, blanks, printing). Proceeds after direct costs and payment-processing fees are donated to local wildfire recovery and replanting efforts, including through trusted partners such as the Pasadena Community Foundation. We donate in increments as proceeds accumulate and publish the running total on this site. Per-item "to recovery" figures are our good-faith estimates; actual amounts can vary with material prices and fees.
Orders, pickup and shipping
Payments are processed by Square. Most items are made in small batches or to order, so please allow up to a week or two before shipping or pickup; we'll email you. Planters are pickup or local delivery in the Pasadena–Altadena area unless we've agreed to ship. California sales tax is collected where required.
Returns
If something arrives damaged or isn't what you ordered, email us within 14 days and we'll make it right — replacement or refund, your choice. Because the goods are handmade and the proceeds are donated, we don't otherwise offer returns for change of mind, but talk to us; we're reasonable.
Products
Cedar is a natural material: grain, color and engraving depth vary from piece to piece. 3D-printed parts are PLA plastic and are not intended for food contact or high heat. Planters are outdoor-safe but will weather.
